Worth knowing in UAE conditions
- Ex-rental cars arrive with tyres that are mismatched, over five years old or worn unevenly from never having had an alignment. That is the first thing to check on any used Renault here
- The Duster does genuine desert and site work in the UAE, and sand ingress into wheel bearings, CV boots and the air filter is the main wear item
- CVT and dual clutch gearboxes in this range overheat in stop-start Dubai traffic when the fluid has never been changed, which on a high mileage fleet car it usually has not
- A/C condensers sit exposed at the front and pack with sand. Poor cooling at idle almost always starts there rather than with a refrigerant leak
