Infiniti in the UAE means the QX80 above all else - a body-on-frame SUV of nearly three tonnes sitting on 20 or 22-inch wheels. The QX60 and Q50 follow. Underneath they share a great deal with Nissan, which makes parts and diagnosis easier than the badge implies, but the weight of the QX80 and the twin-turbo heat of the Q50 both make demands that a lighter car does not.

Always check the placard inside your driver’s door — trim levels and wheel options change the size, and a previous owner may have fitted something different.
Worth knowing in UAE conditions
- A QX80 is close to three tonnes. The load index and speed rating on its tyres are not a suggestion at 45C - fitting an under-rated tyre because it was cheaper is exactly how sidewalls let go at speed on the Abu Dhabi road.
- The QX60 uses a JATCO CVT and it is the most heat-sensitive thing on the car. Fluid condition, and the cooler being clear of sand, decide whether it sees 150,000 km or half that.
- Q50 Sport runs staggered tyres, wider at the rear, so you cannot rotate front to back. The rears wear out roughly twice as fast and owners are caught out by it every time.
- QX80 brakes carry a lot of mass over villa speed bumps and long motorway stops. Pads glaze and discs develop a judder far earlier than the mileage would suggest.
