The Escalade is a very heavy car on very large wheels, which is a hard combination in a city full of speed bumps and kerbs. Magnetic Ride dampers on the higher trims are excellent when they work and expensive when they leak, and heat does not help them. The XT5 is a gentler thing but still runs low-profile tyres. We look after tyres, brakes, dampers and alignment.

Always check the placard inside your driver’s door — trim levels and wheel options change the size, and a previous owner may have fitted something different.
The TPC Spec marking on Cadillac tyres
GM's Tire Performance Criteria number is printed on the sidewall of the original equipment tyres it signs off for a given model, covering load, ride and handling.
We will tell you whether the tyre we are quoting carries the marking or not, and what the practical difference is. Some drivers reasonably choose a non-marked tyre to save money — that is a decision you should get to make knowingly.
Worth knowing in UAE conditions
- Magnetic Ride Control dampers leak, and on an Escalade the first sign is usually a float over expansion joints rather than a warning light.
- The rear air springs on air ride Escalades perish in the heat and the compressor burns out trying to keep the car level.
- A 45-series tyre on a 22-inch rim under a car this heavy means kerb and pothole damage is common, and one bent rim will hold a wheel out of balance however many weights go on it.
- The 6.2 V8 shares GM's cylinder deactivation lifter problem and summer traffic idling brings it on sooner.
