Always check the placard inside your driver’s door — trim levels and wheel options change the size, and a previous owner may have fitted something different.
The AO / RO1 marking on Audi tyres
AO marks a tyre developed to Audi specification; RO1 marks the Quattro and RS versions. Fitting a non-marked tyre changes the handling balance the car was set up around.
We will tell you whether the tyre we are quoting carries the marking or not, and what the practical difference is. Some drivers reasonably choose a non-marked tyre to save money — that is a decision you should get to make knowingly.
Worth knowing in UAE conditions
- Low-profile sidewalls give almost no protection against kerb impacts — check for bulges after any hard hit.
- Quattro models must not have a single tyre replaced on its own; mismatched rolling diameters strain the centre differential.
- Alignment is worth checking annually; these cars show uneven inner-edge wear quickly when toe drifts.
