Subaru tyres and servicing in Dubai

Subarus are a smaller presence in Dubai than in most markets, but the owners tend to be enthusiasts and the cars get used. The one thing every Subaru owner needs to hear before anything else: on a symmetrical all-wheel-drive Subaru you do not replace a single tyre. A rolling diameter mismatch across the axles feeds a permanent fight into the centre differential and it will destroy it.

Common Subaru tyre sizes

  • 225/60R17 (Forester)
  • 225/55R18 (XV)
  • 225/65R17 (Outback)
  • 205/50R17 (Impreza)
  • 245/40R18 (WRX)

Always check the placard inside your driver’s door — trim levels and wheel options change the size, and a previous owner may have fitted something different.

Worth knowing in UAE conditions

  • Never replace one tyre on an AWD Subaru. Dubai construction debris makes single-tyre write-offs common, but a rolling diameter difference of even a few millimetres makes the centre differential or the transfer clutch pack slip constantly until it burns out. It is four at a time, or as close to matched as you can measure.
  • The Lineartronic CVT runs hot here. It takes a specific Subaru fluid and that fluid degrades far faster in 45C stop-start traffic than the interval assumes. A shudder pulling away from rest is the first warning.
  • Boxer engines seep oil from the cam carrier and valve cover gaskets as the seals harden in the heat. Because the exhaust runs low and close underneath, the first thing you notice is the smell of burning oil rather than a drip on the drive.
  • Forester and Outback on 17 and 18-inch wheels are far kinder to sidewalls than most, but the five-year age limit still catches them - plenty of low-mileage Subarus here fail on date code with tread to spare.

What we can do for your Subaru

Ask about your Subaru

What we do on a Subaru

  • Tyres in matched sets of four, with rolling diameter checked across all four
  • Four-wheel alignment
  • CVT fluid changes on a shortened interval
  • Brake discs and pads
  • Boxer engine oil leak diagnosis and gasket work
  • Servicing, oil, filters and spark plugs

What we will send you to the dealer for

  • EyeSight stereo camera calibration after a windscreen replacement or any disturbance to the camera bracket - it needs the correct targets and a properly level floor

  • Warranty and recall work, and airbag module replacement

We are an independent garage, not a Subaru dealer or an authorised service centre, and we do not claim to be.
