Kia tyres and servicing in Dubai
Kia sells in the same enormous numbers as Hyundai here and shares most of the hardware underneath, but the mix is different. A lot of the Pegas and Cerato work we see is taxi and limousine fleet on very high mileage, while Sportage, Seltos, Sorento and Carnival are family cars doing school runs and Hatta weekends. Those two use cases wear a car out in completely different ways.
Common Kia tyre sizes
- 235/55R19 (Sportage)
- 215/60R17 (Seltos)
- 235/55R19 (Sorento)
- 185/65R15 (Pegas)
- 235/65R17 (Carnival)
Always check the placard inside your driver’s door — trim levels and wheel options change the size, and a previous owner may have fitted something different.
Worth knowing in UAE conditions
- Fleet Pegas and Cerato cover huge mileage and wear the front tyres out in months. Privately owned Picanto and Pegas do the exact opposite - they age out at five years with most of the tread still on them.
- Seven-seat Sorento and Carnival get loaded to the roof for weekend runs, often on rear tyres set for an empty car. In 45C ambient and 70C tarmac that is how a sidewall overheats on the road to Abu Dhabi.
- Condensers and radiators pack with dust in Al Quoz. A Kia that cools well on the motorway and badly at the lights is usually telling you about airflow rather than about gas.
- Villa community speed bumps are hard on the front lower arm bushes and drop links on Sportage and Seltos, and the resulting knock is easily mistaken for a failed strut.
