United StatesGMC tyres and servicing in Dubai
The Yukon and Yukon XL are as common as anything on Dubai roads and the Denali trims put a two and a half tonne SUV on 22-inch wheels with very little sidewall left. Sierra pickups carry weight and tow. Both punish tyres, brakes and dampers in a way a lighter car does not. We look after the tyres, the alignment and the suspension that keeps them sitting level.
Common GMC tyre sizes
- 285/45R22 (Yukon Denali)
- 275/60R20 (Yukon)
- 265/65R18 (Sierra)
- 225/65R17 (Terrain)
Always check the placard inside your driver’s door — trim levels and wheel options change the size, and a previous owner may have fitted something different.
The TPC Spec marking on GMC tyres
GM's Tire Performance Criteria number is printed on the sidewall of the original equipment tyres it signs off for a given model, covering load, ride and handling.
We will tell you whether the tyre we are quoting carries the marking or not, and what the practical difference is. Some drivers reasonably choose a non-marked tyre to save money — that is a decision you should get to make knowingly.
Worth knowing in UAE conditions
- Denali trims sit on 285/45R22, and Dubai speed bumps and kerbs make bent rims and sidewall bulges a regular job on them.
- Magnetic Ride dampers on Yukon and Sierra Denali leak with heat and mileage, and the car starts floating over expansion joints long before anything warns you.
- Rear air springs on air ride Yukons perish in the heat and the compressor then runs itself to death trying to hold the car level.
- The 6.2 V8 with cylinder deactivation is prone to lifter trouble and heavy summer idling is exactly the wrong duty cycle for it.
